Presenters, please note that any presenter who has not registered by 14 October 2016 will be removed from the Program Book. Any presenter who has still not registered by 9 November 2016 will be removed from the program.

All presenters must also be MSA Members in the current (2016-17) year.

* Student Eligibility

Any student who is enrolled at a recognised Australian or international tertiary institution at the time the conference is convened is eligible for the discounted rate. Students will be asked to provide their student ID Number and Institution at time of registration.

** Emeritus Eligibility

Any MSA Emeritus member is eligible for the discounted rate.

 

Single Day Registration

Single Day Registrants will be asked to nominate the day that they will be attending when completing their registration. Day delegates are entitled to the following:

  • Entry to all Parallel Sessions, Keynote, and Plenary Sessions on the nominated day/s
  • Entry to designated concerts and receptions on the nominated day/s
  • All official documentation including Program
  • Morning and afternoon tea and lunch on the nominated day/s (Saturday 3 December: Morning tea only)

Public Transport

The conference venue (Madley, Elder Conservatorium of Music) is a 4 minute walk from Bus Stop F2 ot Bus Stop G1 on the north side of North Terrace, Adelaide.

Important Registration, Payment & Cancellation Information

Payment Online

Online registration is preferred. Payment is via PayPAL. You may pay by Amex, MasterCard or Visa or from your PayPAL account.

Other Payment Methods

Please contact the Organising Committee by email should you wish to arrange another payment method.

All payments by cheque incur a $10.00 processing fee. Cheque payments will only be accepted up until 11 November 2016. After this date, all registrations must be submitted online unless other arrangements have been made

Cheques are to be made payable to Musicological Society of Australia and posted to 6 Wattle Grove, Klemzig 5087, South Australia together with details of the items that are being paid for. Your name, full postal address, and email address should be printed clearly on the back of the cheque. Cheque payments from overseas must be in the form of a bank cheque in Australian Dollars drawn on an Australian Bank. No other currency will be accepted.

Acknowledgements

Your registration and payment will be acknowledged via email.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Cancellations must be notified by email to the Organising Committee.

Registration Fees:

  • Before 14 October 2016 cancellation will incur a A$10.00 processing fee.
  • Between 14 October and 9 November 2016 cancellation will incur a A$30.00 cancellation fee.
  • Partial refunds for cancellations received after 9 November 2016 will be made on a discretionary, case-by-case basis.

Conference Dinner:

  • Payments are non-refundable after 11 November 2016.

Roger Covell: In Conversation, Book Launch and Reception

In the year of his 85th birthday, the MSA wishes to honour one of its two living founders, Professor Roger Covell, who will be attending all days of our Conference. On Monday afternoon he will join Vincent Plush in a discussion of his life in music, with an audience Q&A at the conclusion of the event.

Venue: Macbeth Lecture Theatre, University of Adelaide

Time: 4:00pm

 

Following this, there will be Reception and Launch of Professor Covell's iconic book, Australia's Music: Themes of a New Society in a new edition published by the University of Melbourne's Lyrebird Press. Fifty years after its first appearance in 1967, Professor Covell has updated his book with a new postscript. The reception is sponsored by Lyrebird Press and autographed copies of the book will be on sale at a discounted rate for delegates. Launch by Professor jennie Shaw, Executive Dean, Faculty of Arts, University of Adelaide.

Soundstream Emerging Composers Forum Concert

Soundstream presents five world premieres by Australia's exiciting new generation of leading composers. The voices of Deborah Kayser and Anthony Zatorski will be complemented by cello, clarinet, and toy/prepared piano. After the concert, three of the composers will be awarded A$5,000 commissions, the highest awards for emerging composers in Australia. Broadcast partner, ABC Classic FM. Registraion required. Reception for the Burden Collection of 18th Century Operatic Texts

Reception to fete the University of Adelaide Library's Burden Collection of 18th century operatic texts. Selections of Michael Burden's newly and previously donated items will be on display. For catering purposes, please confirm that you plan to attend this event.

Adelaide Symphony Orchestra "Fantastic Symphony - Master 9" Concert

The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra has generously provided our Conference delegates with 20 free tickets and substantially discounted additional tickets for its Fantastic Symphony Master 9 concert, featuring work by Messiaen, Sibelius and Berlioz.
